Each year there is a Polar Bear Plunge at Portage Lakes State Park to raise money for local charities and to bring awareness to programs. This year the polar plunge was raising funds for the Akron-Canton Regional Food Bank.
Team BACM (Todd McKenney, Bethany McKenney, Dorothy Suchka Somerville, Dolores Juriga) did the plunge and aided in raising more than $125k for the Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank along with over 650 other jumpers.
The Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank is the largest supplier of goods to Barberton Area Community Ministries (BACM) and other local non-profit organizations.
